In a statement, Sir Lucky Eseigbe said the President’s approval reflects visionary leadership and an unwavering commitment to protecting the lives and property of Nigerians through a stronger, better-equipped and more responsive military capable of addressing the country’s evolving security challenges.
According to him, the establishment of additional army divisions across the country, including the proposed 83 Division in Benin City, Edo State, will improve operational efficiency, intelligence gathering, rapid deployment of troops and coordinated military operations against terrorism, kidnapping, banditry, armed robbery and other violent crimes that threaten national peace and stability.
He noted that the recruitment of 28,000 additional personnel would further strengthen the operational capacity of the Nigerian Army, enhance border security, improve internal security operations and reinforce ongoing efforts to restore lasting peace in various parts of the country.
The APC House of Representatives flag bearer stated that President Tinubu’s decision demonstrates the administration’s determination to build a safer and more secure Nigeria, creating an enabling environment for economic growth, investment and national development in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda.

He praised the governor’s proactive security policies, strategic collaboration with security agencies and sustained investments aimed at protecting lives and property, noting that the administration’s efforts are already restoring public confidence and strengthening security across Edo State.
He observed that the synergy between the Federal Government under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Edo State Government under Governor Monday Okpebholo has continued to produce positive outcomes in addressing security challenges, expressing optimism that the expansion of the Nigerian Army would further complement ongoing security initiatives within Edo State and across the federation.
Sir Lucky Eseigbe urged Nigerians to continue supporting the Armed Forces and other security agencies by providing credible intelligence and cooperating with lawful authorities, emphasizing that national security remains a shared responsibility requiring the collective commitment of government and citizens alike.
